Opening and Closing Applications

Applications (or programs) are software tools that allow you to perform specific tasks on your computer.

Opening Applications

  1. Using the Start Menu:

    • Click the Start Menu (Windows icon) at the bottom-left corner of the screen.
    • Scroll through the list of applications or type the name of the application in the search bar.
    • Click the application to open it.
  2. Using Desktop Shortcuts:

    • Double-click the application’s icon on the desktop.
  3. Using the Taskbar:

    • If the application is pinned to the taskbar, click its icon to open it.

Closing Applications

  1. Using the Close Button:

    • Click the X button at the top-right corner of the application window.
  2. Using the Taskbar:

    • Right-click the application’s icon on the taskbar and select Close Window.
  3. Using Keyboard Shortcuts:

    • Press Alt + F4 to close the currently active application.

Force Closing Applications

If an application becomes unresponsive:

  1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open the Task Manager.
  2. Select the unresponsive application.
  3. Click End Task.
