Turning On a Computer

  1. Locate the Power Button: On desktops, it’s usually on the CPU case. On laptops, it’s above the keyboard.
  2. Press the Power Button: The computer will start booting up.
  3. Wait for the Operating System to Load: Once the computer is on, you’ll see the Windows login screen.

Shutting Down a Computer

  1. Save Your Work: Ensure all files are saved before shutting down.
  2. Click the Start Menu: Located at the bottom-left corner of the screen.
  3. Select “Shut Down”: Click the power icon and choose “Shut Down.”

Restarting a Computer

Restarting is useful for applying updates or fixing minor issues:

  1. Click the Start Menu.
  2. Select the power icon and choose “Restart.”

Sleep and Hibernate Modes

  • Sleep Mode: Saves your current session and puts the computer in a low-power state.
  • Hibernate Mode: Saves your session to the hard drive and turns off the computer.
