Understanding the Parts of a Computer
A computer is made up of several physical components, each with a specific function. These components work together to perform tasks.
External Components
- Monitor: Displays the visual output of the computer.
- Keyboard: Used to type and input commands.
- Mouse: A pointing device for navigation.
- Speakers: Output device for sound.
- Printer: Used to print documents.
Internal Components
- CPU (Central Processing Unit): The “brain” of the computer that processes instructions.
- RAM (Random Access Memory): Temporary memory used for running programs.
- Storage (Hard Drive/SSD): Stores data permanently.
- Motherboard: The main circuit board that connects all components.
- Power Supply Unit (PSU): Provides power to the computer.
Peripherals
Peripherals are additional devices that can be connected to a computer:
- Webcam: For video calls.
- External Hard Drive: For additional storage.
- USB Devices: Such as flash drives or external keyboards.
