Understanding the Parts of a Computer

A computer is made up of several physical components, each with a specific function. These components work together to perform tasks.

External Components

  1. Monitor: Displays the visual output of the computer.
  2. Keyboard: Used to type and input commands.
  3. Mouse: A pointing device for navigation.
  4. Speakers: Output device for sound.
  5. Printer: Used to print documents.

Internal Components

  1. CPU (Central Processing Unit): The “brain” of the computer that processes instructions.
  2. RAM (Random Access Memory): Temporary memory used for running programs.
  3. Storage (Hard Drive/SSD): Stores data permanently.
  4. Motherboard: The main circuit board that connects all components.
  5. Power Supply Unit (PSU): Provides power to the computer.

Peripherals

Peripherals are additional devices that can be connected to a computer:

  • Webcam: For video calls.
  • External Hard Drive: For additional storage.
  • USB Devices: Such as flash drives or external keyboards.
